Oya Necklaces - Part 2

Hello and welcome to the second and last part of showing off my oya necklaces.

Most of these necklaces are made in two or three variegating colors and when one first lays eyes on them, they resemble peacock feathers.
All are made combining ecru crochet thread and embroidery floss. Delicate, feminine and attractive.

You can see the first part here and here.

Fall Decor Idea

I am a person of color and  my spirits rise to heaven when I am left to collect flowers in a meadow. But then, I am not solely a spring / summer flower collector, because as a true nature lover I admire everything nature gives us, so although she limits her abundance in terms of colors I cannot contain myself and have to bring something home and have it decorate a corner in our home even for a little while.

So when we recently went to our spot on the mountain, I picked some fresh pinecones, thistles and those bubbly dry plants I have no idea what they are called to use as a fall décor.

Being left with crochet flowers that didn't make it to adorn my latest flower warmers, I stuck them into the thistles and added a bit of color to these darlings.

Put the dried collection of plants into a(n old) decorated bottle, arranged a simple arrangement into a basket and voila!

Not a lot of effort, but a sweet sight for the summer grieving eyes.

Insta Feel - Crochet Blankets

Fall has officially come and didn't fail to show us and expose us to its character. So now, you can go out in flip flops during the day and change into a fur coat at night. We've been having quite a chilly nights lately and all I want to do is drop everything I work on, curl up in my armchair and crochet my heart away. Crochet a blanket, mind you! Last week IG was swarming with people showing off their blankies and that made me aware that I do.not.possess.a.single.blanket!!! NOT ONE! For myself! {Sniff, sniff}

Every single blanket I have made was gifted away. Though on the other hand, my heart is full because I know how my recipients still feel about them - so that is satisfying my sadness at the moment. Nevertheless, I vowed to make one for myself even if it takes me years to make it!

These are some of the blankets that attracted my attention. Click away dear readers!

Crochet Tubes Kit and Pattern Testers Wanted!

Ok. So this week seems to be all about requests and offers.

Those who have been here for a while know about the crochet tubes kits I've been hinting here and there and they are soon to be ready for sale. We've started a collaboration with a local yarn producer and their crochet yarn is incredible. I have been using it for ages and I am happy we can finally offer it along with our patterns.

The tube necklaces have been the second pattern we created eons ago and it has proven to be a best-seller. Although very simple in stitch, the necklaces are real head turners. Especially those made out of variegated yarn.

Which brings us to this - I need kit testers.
The kit will contain five 20 gr. yarn in assorted colors and a digital copy of the pattern.  No hook included in the test kit - sorry!
The testers will be able to choose the color kit they like the best. Because we are waiting for the delivery of 10+ colors, we can only show you a glimpse of yarn that will be included.

There are no real conditions for applying BUT once the kit being tested, we want your review and the finished product(s), i.e. necklaces to be shared across your social media. AND as our dear blog friend Alhana suggested we would love if the testers could translate it into their native language preferably Italian and German, but other languages speaking testers are also welcome to apply! We already have Alhana to translate it into Spanish.

This request, aside from here on the blog, will also go on FB and IG, so please apply only once in any of these.  I will send the chosen testers a mail.

The Little Treasures & A Request

My dearest bloglovlies,

Some of you might know, others might not know that we've been running our online gallery / concept store for almost a year now. It was a big step, something we have dreamt and wished to do for a long time.

Running it is definitely like having a roller-coaster ride, while we grow and learn along the way, and it is certainly a unique experience we are thankful to have and we wouldn't change that for anything in the world.

Aside for the products you can find from our indie designers, we would like to point your attention to the site's blog

Fashion trends, sustainable fashion, interior design, presentation of emerging designers, DIYs are the main topics being covered there.  The reason I am writing this and  reaching out to you is a request for collaboration. If you have an idea for a blog post that fits our niche, we would love to have you with a guest post.
The blog posts are also shared on my personal profile on Bloglovin' so you can follow us there too.

Also, we would love and appreciate it very much, if you could give us a "like" on the Facebook page for our community here.

In order to further promote the amazing offer of  the site, we  recently added a new section to this blog called Curated Selection to show you the best from the best.

If you know of a designer that is looking to exhibit and sell his/her products online, we'd appreciate if you refer him/her to us or vice versa. We've got insane conditions.

For all questions, collaboration ideas and the operating conditions you can contact us at:

Thank you for your support!

Crochet Flower Warmers

It all began with a skein of the ugliest beige / camel color I somehow managed to buy due to a bad lighting in my yarn shop. There was I in the yarn shop, scratching my head over the limited supply of yarn colors I needed to buy for my projects, when I happened upon this camel / dirty sand cotton yarn and knowing from experience that one could never have enough of beige (read: neutral) colors in one's stash, I decided to buy not one but 4 of these hideous skeins as I discovered the next morning under natural light.

And they spent their last 3 years waiting for their destined project. As I am not the person who gets rid of stuff easily, especially crochet yarn, I decided to use the unfortunate yarn for a project where it might get disguised and when I finished these warmers I knew this was the right project for it.

I have loved this idea of making warmers where the surface would be covered with flowers - saw that in a Japanese crochet magazine and fell in love with it. The design is mine - of both the warmers and the flowers. The thing is that when I had the first one ready - it was covered with 8 flowers - and it was ugly. So fast frogging ahead, ditching half of the flowers I reworked the design and arranged the flowers in the most pleasing (at least to my eyes) and attractive way. They are still kind of bulky when I put them on, but in a good way and I am sure they will be head turners. People will be either pleasantly amazed or wonder what the heck I was thinking about.

While working on them I got an idea for a new pair of warmers I am itching to try. Stay tuned!

Free Fall Crochet Projects

We are slowly transitioning into fall.
Although it seemingly looks like nothing is changed during the day, the first signs appear at night. As a matter of fact, fall will be here in exactly 10 days. So, like it or not, we will have to get ready for it.

In line with this I've compiled a selection of amazing fall crochet projects - accessories and home décor mostly and I am sure you'll find a project to please your soul.

These adorable warmers

Pumpkins. Crocheted ones.
Couldn't decide which ones I liked better.

Instagram love: Embroidery Artist marnalunt

An inspiring, eye-candy IG account that takes embroidery to an otherworldly level is the one of the embroidery artist marnalunt.

Who is marnalunt? She is hand and embroidery artist, a snow globe collector, hoarder, tea drinker, colour lover, art history geek, mum to Arthur & Phoebe, blogger, wife, murder mystery reader, carer, bird watcher and dyslexic.

Marna is an award winning artist and has exhibited across the country, sold work across the world, worked closely with the BBC, Liberty of London, Mollie Makes magazine to name a few and continues to teach at sold out venues throughout Britain. Originally trained at the Manchester School of Art in Fine Art, she still considers herself a painter but has moved mediums from oils to threads.

"My main objective when working is to experiment with surface texture and colour, whether it be portrait or landscape. I work with thread exactly how I would paint with oil paint, building layers and injecting tiny spots of colour to create an image from the simple to the complex, with hidden details to draw you into the finished subject.
I like to use appliqué and beautiful fabric finds often to create interesting depth but am now tending to use more embroidery only in much of my pieces, which normally creates a more painterly appearance. Because my work has a lengthy process and involves a contemporary embroidery practice, each piece is a labour of love and you become very committed and attached to each piece, only letting go when you know you have given every inch of yourself to finished artwork."
